DESCRIPTION

The Castle of Salona, also known as the Castle of Oria, is one of the most important medieval castles in Central Greece, with a rich history extending from antiquity to the 1821 revolution. It is located above the city of Amfissa, on top of a hill that offers a strategic view of the olive grove valley and towards the Corinthian Gulf. From its summit, it offers panoramic views towards Giona, Oiti, and the Amfissa olive grove, the largest continuous olive grove in Greece. It is a quadrilateral fortress, with strong walls and towers, while inside, remnants of churches, cisterns, and residences are preserved. Indeed, one of its most impressive points, the Tower of Oria, is tied to many legends and folk traditions. The castle is open to visitors.
