Welcome to the Municipality of Delphi!
The name “Delphi” is known internationally, in all languages, all over the world. This is the huge comparative advantage of the region. It also has a unique cultural and historical reserve, independent of Delphi.
It is one of the largest Municipalities in Greece, consisting of a total of eight (former) Municipalities – Amfissa, Galaxidi, Gravia, Delphi, Desfina, Itea, Kallio and Parnassos – which today constitute Municipal units. Historically and geographically, it can claim to be the heart of Greece. A place blessed in time with a rich heritage, which to this day is a global epicenter. The capital is Amfissa, with a significant historical contribution throughout the centuries, while the world-famous Delphi gave its name to the Municipality and is the historical seat.
Our Municipality includes the largest number of protected areas of any other Municipality in Greece, featuring archaeological treasures, traditional settlements, rare local wildlife and flora. An extensive protection zone, which includes the Archaeological Site of Delphi, the famous Delphic Landscape, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the olive groves of Amfissa, the Parnassos and Oiti National Parks, as well as other areas, which make our Municipality the most controlled and protected Municipality in the country, a kind of cultural and natural National Park.
